Last short post on the fall of Van der Moolen ignited an explosion of comments. Between the funny jokes and vicious attacks more valuable inside information was published than any single editor could think of. This website can’t handle more than 200 comments as I discovered.
Real Madrid – Barcelona for VDM board?
The news on the ban of this website in the office of Van der Moolen seems to be true. The rumour of the dynamic duo Den Drijver and Kroon visiting the match Real Madrid – Barcelona three months ago with a hired private jet returned, but still can’t be verified. If only a small bit of the rumours are true – there could be legal action against the former chairman.
It’s summertime, not much else is happening in the market apart from some Volkswagen moves. News on Van der Moolen is supplied on a daily basis, and new developments or insights can be dropped in the comments.

What happened to Frank Vogel, the tax arb guy whose activities helped VDM take a 40'ish mln hit? How much did he take?
ya ya we all know bout Optiver vs Tibra
stop moaning
no info on Vogel, rest is actually true (jets, apartments etc) but now they will do everything to burry it deep down
Someone from London that no one at VdM seems to know anything about has been been discharged:

Hahaha Richard den Drijver and his porn DVD stuck in his laptop, then he returned it to the IT department??? WTF, how dumb can u be? Also seemed to contain some nasty xxx pics with his boyfriend Hans Kroon on the airplane.
what the hell
gossip, gossip, gossip… gaap(!)
These are the the last spasms of a crappy company with nasty people working over there. Specially management is nasty over there, they don't give a rats ass about the people working there.
McNally is a former Curvalue employee. Friend of Richard den Drijver. Maybe illegal to keep this secret for the shareholders…
how do you know he was a Curvalue employee? In what period? On his resume it says nothing about it…
If he was an employee at Curvalue, and made it to the supervisory board and leaving the information out of his resume ; that would be something we call…. fraud?
Guys…Martin McNally is (maybe now was) Richard den Driver accountant doing all his private stuff…He is the one who setup all den Driver tax shelter companies…As we all now he never paid taxes… NOWHERE !!!!
They say a lot of bad things about Richard den Drijver, he robbed the shareholders for example – but it's completely new for me he has positive sides as well : not paying taxes.
'As we all know he never paid taxes…' NOWHERE !!!!
Well, I didn't know that(!) So, what are/were the names of the tax shelter companies?
What was the role of the whole VDM Supervisory Board in 2008?? McNally I understand ( he was den Drijver´s friend and accountant). But what was GERRIT DE MAREZ OYENS thinking when HE approved the € 6 million investment in the MUSIC COMPAMPANY Avalon Media…That VDM was going from financial services to selling DVD´s????
WHAT A JOKE!!!
aahaahaha that a good one..that can be Driver and Kroon´s next job… FROM JAIL !!!!!
The owner of that music company was hans kroon's son. An incompetent person who has messed up many companies. Its really hilarious when you think about it. Suddenly richard is friends again with hans and then they try to save the company of hans jr.
Hans Kroon has been Chairman of the Management Board of Van der Moolen Effecten and Supervisory Director of Cure Value. Currently he is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Avalon Media Group and Trustus Capital Management and Advisor of Van der Moolen Holding.
Remeber the days when the Rokin was Plastered with CD's of Maurice Kroons' latest monster hit. A freeby at the Van der Moolen year end drinks in…… (quiz)
When is the next expiry drink ?
Hmmm quite disturbing that the VDM director (RDD) is investing in a record company where his friend Kroon is a member of the supervisory board???
And where his friend's son Maurice Kroon is the owner!
1997
Hahahaha this shit is all so funny. I hope the OM finds it funny too.
Was ist die reason for Fortis not clearing / dealing with VDM und RDD?
I ken not was die reason ist
so what now?
who goes to jail?
egbert for being guilty of being rubbish
New scandal??
http://www.fd.nl/artikel/12441645/beurshandelaren-verdacht-diefstal-broncode
jeeeez guys you're all so full of **#$$@@@. Just fur fun been looking up some of all the gossip you've been writing here lately and realy nothing seems to be true. McNally never used to be a curvalue employee and avalon media group isn't owned by Kroon's son Maurice nor used to be. And what about all this story's on taxshelters? names please….. Please come with some serious input on this matter…. False allegations in anonimous postings.. even worse than Albert Verlinden at SBS6 shownews…
read the financial statements, on page 77 they quietly mention a 6 mln. loan… read it yourself and you will get the point.
@ August 24, 2009 9:38 PM
Input? For what???
helllo jeeeeez person…. under which rock were you hiding this year??? McNally (company Wilton Group) is the personal accountant FOR YEARS already of den Drijver..Avalon Media Group pls look at the CV of Hans Kroon you will see he is on the board there…kind of odd giving a music store € 6 mln while VDM is in the financial business, dont you think???…MAYBE YOU SHOULD CRAWL BACK UNDER YOUR ROCK AND GO TO SLEEP again AND LEAVE US ALONE….goodnight ALBERT !!!!
haahahaha…that is a good one @ 7:47… BTW It was not Maurice but his other son Gaby who is/was a co-owner of Avalon Media…..cheers ALBERT !!
there is gonna be no legual action against those guys
it´s allways like that
they will do their own new thing
and life goes on…
it´s allways like that
yaaaawwnnn…i think you are right my friend..lang leve de AFM!!!
Duh! I've ofcourse seen the financial statement and I've ofcourse read page 77, only thing is that it says nowhere that the loan was granted to Avalon Media Group. And for my rock-friend: That Hans Kroon works at Avalon doesn't say that his son works there, nor that this son is the owner of the store!!
New story please
hee jeeeez man…ppffff what a coinsidence isn't it…do you know the phrase: "when there is smoke, there is a fire"…IN THIS CASE 100 YEARS OF (vdm) HISTORY JUST WENT UP IN FLAMES..happy dreaming END OF STORY!
maybe hee jeeeez man…pfff is EGBERT!!!
This has been the best story I heard in 2009, some one should shoot a movie about it.
Topics:
1. New market makers firms in Europe
2. Why the Eurostoxx traders at liquid left each 2 0 3 years?
3. Algo Market maker are the future?
Hi this is EggBert and no i'm not SlechtBert. I just wanted to let you know i'm at ShitHole writing this message on my BlackBert. The option business isn't going WellBert, but hey what can u DoBert? Taking a salary increase from RichBert? Its all so SadBert. And now VDM is going down the DrainBert.
"Duh! I've ofcourse seen the financial statement and I've ofcourse read page 77"
you must be a topanalist if thats all you can say about it after reading lol
something new and more recent pls..
Hello everyone!
Could I ask a question here? I'm a grad
I want to be a trader(good way to die, I know), an I will get interviewed, what kind of tough questions are they going to ask?
I know some normal questions, like "what's your motivation", "present yourself in 2 minutes", "why do you think we need to hire you" or some math questions like shaking hands , balabala, what tough questions have you been asked?
get life
do something else
amsterdam trader please can you increase the frequency of your colums. I dont know what to do else in this shitty market then reading your funny colums.
@ 9:55
Where will you be interviewed? VDM?
or Intal perhaps? 😉
there are better options
betteroptions?
Should be optionBert
optionbertS you mean?
EgBerterOptions
Would you please stop with all the -bert jokes. It was not particularly funny in the first place. Must sound better in Dutch
They will ask you all about the Heston volatility model and variance swaps. make sure you know everything about it.
Hello all,
Is there a reasonable possibility of a relaunch of (parts) VDM?
What about Egbert? Some guys are making fun of him on this forum, but is he really a bad/unreliable person? I think he was in charge of hiring new traders in Amsterdam @ VDM, but I am not sure.
relaunch of epic failure ?
kiddin me mate…
as for cluelessbert – hes worse than described. when everything is ok he is a really funbert, but where he needs to act he changes to fuckallbert…
so imagine =)
new ones? poor little things without bonus deal ones?
don;t forget swaptions and gbm
what math question is there in shaking hands?
What's gbm? Geometric Brownian Motion?
Shaking hands problem is simply, n people shake hands with each other, how many times do they shake hand?
answer : n*(n-1)/2

"missmanagement" is not stron enough
guys, please always give an english draft as some people struggle with dutch
Google Translate?!
try and then suggest
babelfish also not really working on that
i am looking to track down egbert – we need someone in our dutch offices to oversee trading and risk management
perfect choice
riskBert and tradeBert are best possible choices
though for a risk manager i have also different suggestion… 😉
maybe someone from alloptions 🙂
calloptions 😉
for all those out there who knew egbert:
is he really that bad a trader…. he cant be as bad as teh saen traders, surely…..
Saenbert 🙂
LOL
he is still more of a tradebert than managebert…
(VDM press release) Richard dem Drijver CEO:"We can see the effect of the restructuring efforts in 2007 as we are reporting a profitable quarter for the first time after two years of losses. Focus on high margin activities and alignment of activities towards our strategic goals have resulted in a net profit of € 4.0 million in the first quarter of 2008. We are looking with confidence to the developments in the full year 2008.”
Most of you people here think you are clever and will never realize that you are mostly in fact a bunch of f ucking morons.
thanks Hans or Richard…coming from you that is a complement
but its not us that failed that big 🙂
cheers
AUGUST 28, 2009 9:48 AM(!)
Heyyy, the access block at the VDM-office has been removed 😉
Then stop trying to tell us that we 'will never realize'(!)
realize what?
btw, who's left in the office? and wht r u guys doing?
doing nothing… looking at a profit of 1893Euro's
being a CMM is realy the bomb ;-p
still trading?
funny 🙂
what do you mean 'still trading?!'
ofcourse, I've got 4PMM's and over 20 other CMM's to compeat with.
compete… (duh!)
I realize that VDM is going down the drain!
well, trading while company is insolvent seems silly if not illegal (dont know how it works in europe)
and trading while company is going down seems to be waste of time – are you counting for bonus this year?
Yeah it's mad. The stock is still listed and traded on exchange and best of all the company still seems to be trading on the euronext exchanges! Not surprising as the comments on this forum seem to illustrate that the Dutchies have a hard grasp of the concept of trading while insolvent which is strictly illegal in most countries. BTW VDM were barred from trading on the LSE a few days ago.
Sexbert used to smoke cigarettes. He can't afford them anymore. He's now called Shagbert.
@3:08PM you must have been dozing off during Law 101. The answer is very simple: different legal structures. The insolvency seems to apply (only) to VDM Holding, the shares of which continue to be traded on Euronext – nothing illegal there, in fact a common practice: you can still trade Lehman shares. The trading takes place in different legal entities, owned by VDM Holding but legally separated, and apparantly they are not insolvent and continue to do business (for now anyway). If you own shares in Microsoft and you go bankrupt, do you seriously believe MS would have to shut down its operations immediately and the share would be suspended? There would be very few stocks left to trade!
whow, quite an awesome IMC-party that was!!
What about onno's sickness ?
The company is going bankrupt and most of people will loose money because of that, but that s probably nothing compare to onno's sickness and his suffering. That s already more than 4 months he is sick !!!!!
I wish onno to recover as soon as possible so he can save the company
who, is onno?!
the only onno I know is Onno Schamhart.
Onno the Curvalue futures day-trader. Squeezed between the spreads.
Sickness and suffering… 'Squeezed between the spreads?!'
what the hell does that supposed to mean?
Oh-Noooo is so sick, he won't be back, ever. Richard and Hans squeezed him between the spreads.
Onno is the same for vdM daytrading that Bert is for MM
i dont get the microsoft example – its all upside down here
if VdM is insolvent and it is owning 100% of its trading entities (Curvalue for example) it means that:
1 entities are insolvent as well (100% dependant)
2 it may be forced to sell all of its assets – migt be whole trading company, might be PC's and desks – and what then?
Then there comes an olifant with a dikke snuit … en die blies zo het verhaaltje uit.
Rust zacht
Holy shit, you've got elephants running around in VDM? Please don't tell me they are pink.
100 th
whow, 100 pink elephants?!
there is a rumour that egbert was seen coming out of the alloptions office today… is this true… are they looking for a head of trading… this was not a joke, but i heard it seriously off a friend
Good for Eggbert, he needs a job. Lets see how much he can fuck up over there.
As if they need Eggbert to ruin the place… He was probably just selling the VDM positions.
but they need somebody….
Why doesn't Allard Jakobs do it?
Ron Meijer, anyone?
and who on earth would offer such job to sombady who just failed big time in previous one ?
all options
I got news from Richard, the crook!

I beg you, please buy those shitty positions…

Hope all these guys will join Berni for the next 100 years

saai man
What in godsname does Avalon media group have to do with Online Trader? Hans Kroon is a big fucking liar. If he did or did not became a member of the board over there is irrelevant, he was lying about his involvement in that company, where his son was the only shareholder. Then out of the blue comes his friend with his family foundation.
Ah, new dirt published in the daily newspapers! AFM is investigating the company, and all comments on VDM turn out to be right..
an other comment…RDD took (stole) € 15 mln through the development/investment costs made in 07 and 08 in Online Trader..The fact that he didnot want to sell the Online Trader platform to Peter Verhaar was simply not because of his EGO..but because there was nothing to sell..This was an empty shelf where RDD himself was the (PO Box) developer..and we all think HE'S stupid????
yeah rumours-
drijver and kroon in serious trouble soon
RDD may have been to busy with other things. He seems to be a VIP. But now he's sinking!
http://www.aiglon.ch/information/…/richard-den-drijver
It's time to close the shop permanently.
change of subject – is it true that jakobs at all options borrowed altana stock from his neighbour to be able to short the stock….. thats illegal, right…
Arbeidscontractje
http://www.geenstijl.nl/archives/images/Arbeidsovereenkomst.pdf
1) VIP=Vieze Impotente Pauper
2) VIP=Vuile Inhalige Ploert
3) VIP=Vunzige Ijskoude Pleurislijer
If you pay peanuts…you get monkeys
I like monkeys!
Spank 'em!
Here actually an interview with actually Den Drijver speaking actually about his business, actually a big hoax and actually filling his pockets by actually being a criminal
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/417817/2407731
RDD VIP….it's hard to choose…I really think he is all 3!!!
Can anyone imagine the price for his thing?
http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fmanagementscope.nl%2Fmagazine%2Fartikel%2F348-richard-den-drijver-van-der-moolen&sl=nl&tl=en&history_state0=
RDD rented out an appartment in monaco for 30k a month in monaco also
did the company pay this?
from what i heard there were only familly members of kroon and RDD at the event
Den Drijver's contract is posted online, for all to enjoy!
http://www.vandermoolen.com/downloads/uploads/Arbeidsovereenkomst%20den%20Drijver.pdf
old news dude…
The company dieds today and it is not a question of RDD, HK, etc but collective mistakes and on the top ->the Dutch mentality and belastingdients.
Thanks Richie for sharing that, but most people disagree.
dieds?! pleaseeee get outta here!
the very health small cur was absorbed by the old sick big one. The idea (stupid idea) was to get health the old sick one –
effect boomerang – the old sick infected the jong health and both dies now – very simple, very clear and very stupid.
Up here someone states that RDD took €15m for development costs onlinetrader. But was onlinetrader not already part of the acquisition? The press release of October 13 says "The agreement to acquire Curvalue is an important breakthrough for VDM, allowing it to strengthen its European operations [bla bla]. By integrating Curvalue's operations and through Curvalue's OnlineTrader, VDM has entered the market of institutional internet brokerage". What was done on onlinetrader between the acquisition and the termination of onlinetrader costing €15m? Where was the development team? How can there be "nothing to sell to Peter Verhaar"?
The guys that were left behind at Quote when they lost their key journalists seem to be sleeping. Today(!) they wrote nobody knew the personality of RDD when he was on the floor, and that RDD is still an advisor of VDM
ahhhaaahaha—DIEDS???? and BELASTINGDIENTS????—Richie den Drijver, pls next time when u write something on this blog, make sure u use your spell-check or your dictionary before you make a comment….enjoy your weekend assehole… or is it azzhoel…aaahhahahahaha
Shortly about OLT: this is a reanimated old software development.
The developer team had the task to reanimate it.
Why reanimation? because in their previous live this development
made bankruptcy their original owner (too expensive IT support,VIP costs coming from the developers, not enough clients).
The history was repeated again being inside VDM.
The conclusions about what will happen if some one buy again this development
is up to the reader of this history…..
OnlineTrader was EasyScreen
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/analysis-and-features/small-talk-troubled-easyscreen-ready-for-takeover-talks-533306.html
http://www.finextra.com/fullstory.asp?id=13419
Philip Docker…., yeah; I remember him
the only reason why OLT was not sold for example to peter verhaar:
The system and internal development was crap.
The system was not redundand at all…
you don't want to sell that kind of system with the great name of "VDM" connected to it 🙂
Isn't this VDM bashing getting a bit 2008? We all know how they screwed up big time. Where are they screwing up but we don't know / see it yet?
Online Trader wasn't sold because one of the terms of buying it from EasyScreen was that VdM could not sell it at a later to anyone other than the original owners.
Exactly, but EasyScreen was not the original owner (creator) of this system and
secondly the contract was not with VDM but with cur: cur bought it and reanimated it.
A recap here: So VDM purchases Curvalue for OnlineTrader. OnlineTrader was in real white labelled EasyScreen, which was already a dying patient. Then VDM pays for EasyScreen sources to unclear beneficiaries. Then many millions reportedly were spent in an unknown intensive care unit where the OnlineTrader patient was moved to, at a vague hospital, reportedly owned by RDD, for unclear treatment, where the OnlineTrader patient deceased, the body is not recoverable, the hospital is closed and the owner buys expensive real estate out of Europe?
Pretty much. The product was mismanaged to the point that they made a loss with a hundred clients. If they have two thousand clients, the losses would have been multiplied by two thousand! They could have had a million clients and still made a loss. It was an outdated product that was expensive to run and maintain.
This is absolutely true (first sources information)
And what about Cor's bar? After 1,5 year it was closed with a loss of 150.000 EUR that had to be paid by the other traders.
but what is now the point
have RDD and Kron serious problems?
is jail possible?
they are going to make a movie with themselves as the leading actors , or maybe a musical with all Maurice his hits in it. The revenue is for the poor day traders of VDM
Breaking news: the broker Aespen has completed a management buy-out from VDM.
Good for them. Nice guys, good brokers.
how is egbert…
He is playing his own hidden game as usually for his own (pocket) benefit as usually!
http://www.vandermoolen.com/?sid=17&press=218
at intrinsic value(!) Shareholders are being fucked again!
egbert and the arbitrage tax matter – nobody speak about this while he was busy since oct 08 only on this for his commission of eur x.xxx.xxx
Why should they pay a dollar more for this business? Where is there any extrinsic value for the shareholders of VDM from? All 14 guys at Aespen could walk and form a new firm, but in that case it would take months to set up and they would lose their brokerage pool. By paying intrinsic they are actually buying back their bonus pool so in this regards it is quite a fair deal for VDM
I would like to have a goa t the movie idea; do not forget the part AFFTER RDD an Crook… Kroon left VDM: In came Peter "ex-banker" Zwart and that other guy; the lawyer of Frank Vogel (!!) Yes; one of the new board members was and is the legal advisor of Frank "the divident stripper". The other guy was a banker who was made to resign at Van Lanschot.
What did they do? Hire an ace with the reputation to put VDM (or real parts of it) in business again (like hiring Jan Dobber) or… have a go at it themselves for a 4 figure daily pay cheque?
results: The ex-banker who knows/knew nothing about trading and the dividend stripper-lawyer failed big time… but hey, VDM has a tradition of failures, so failure was imminent and predictable.
it is over VDM is history as of tomorrow
Klaar
How is Frank Vogel’s dividend stripping coming along? Has this business dried up or is he genuinely interested in running restaurants?
http://www.gsfsam.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/academy_publication_1414.pdf
What a loser.
http://www.missethoreca.nl/1082893/fastfood/fastfood-nieuws/DavidCrouwelStartKipketenFrango.htm
‘What a loser.’
hows that ?
‘die bestuurder van AMG, je weet wel, die gozer van Avalon Media Group die 6 miljoen euro cadeau kreeg van VDM, is zakenpartner van Frank Vogel in de kiprestaurants. Wat is het toch een kleine wereld. ‘
lol, frank was investor in alphabert too, yah amsterdam is a happy old village ..
